...does this mean that Ford finally has a worthy successor to the Escort RS Cosworth?
The AWD system sounds like it might actually be decent, too. I'll be curious to read more about how this system actually works when more is known, if it is actually !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

With the key difference that the Cossie was RWD based AWD while the FoRS is not only FWD based AWD but also lacks Cosworth and therefore is not a cosworthy successor for the Cossie.

Damn you Ford, I test drove a Focus ST and couldn't get over the FWD. So, I buy a truck and now you bring this to America. WTF.

This is probably the closest we will see to a worthy RS Cosworth successor.

Longitudinal engine? Check.
Rear-biased AWD? Check.
Cosworth tuned engine? Check.
Rallye pedigree? Check.
Based on the next largest car in the lineup? Not check.
Conclusion: I can agree with your statement.

This is complicated. The CVT WRX is 60/40. The standard WRX is 50/50 but can send torque IP to 80% in either direction. the STi is 41:59. So I guess the STi is the only one with a rear bias.

Transverse-engined awd cars can be alright.
Having a real center differential is more important than what way the engine is mounted. Having LSDs rather than open diffs at the axles helps too.
